shorting a stock:

• 1) borrow 500 stocks from you
• 2). immediately sell them for $1.00 a piece (revenue $500)
• 3) I HOPE that the price of the stock decreases - decrease to $0.50 per stock
• 4) I buy 500 stocks at $0.50 a piece ($250 total) - I give you back the original 500 stocks I borrowed from you (profit $250)
