delirious: in an acutely disturbed state of mind resulting from illness or intoxication and characterized by restlessness, illusions, and incoherence of thought and speech.; in a state of wild excitement or ecstasy.

  • As I get more tired, I become a bit more delirious and crazy, so I don't know what I might say.
  • 피곤하면 오히려 더 과하게 manic 느낌

 

impromptu: done without being planned, organized, or rehearsed.

  • Giving presentations is easy, but it is the impromptu questions afterward that are hard.
  • 예상에 없던 질문들 하지 마~~ 힘들쟈나~~

 

open secret: information that was originally intended to be confidential but has at some point been disclosed and is known to many people.

  • Giving our friends questions to ask us during Q&A was an open secret because all the students knew about it, but none of the professors did.
  • 교수님만 빼고 학생들은 다 아는 비밀

 

What they don't know won't hurt them.

  • 교수님은 모르시니까, 그럼 아무도 다친 사람 없잖아? 그럼 됐어~

 

indebted: owing gratitude for a service or favor.

  • If we accept a refrigerator from them, we will feel indebted to them.
  • 빚진 기분이야 ㅠ_ㅠ
  • 발음이 상당히 특이함 /inˈdedəd/

 

Good things come to those who wait.

  • 티아라 신드롬 얘기하다가 나온 건데, 마시마로 실험 느낌임. 좋은건 기다리면 준다. 사실은 내가 두드려야 나오는 거 아니겠수?

 

outspoken: willing to speak their thoughts and mind

  • Americans in general are more outspoken about their passions and ideas than Koreans.
  • 자기 생각을 입밖으로 꺼내는 건 어려워~

[배경: 친구한테 결혼선물로 비싼거 받으면 빚지는 기분이랑 불편하다고 하니까, 그래도 이득이라면서 설명해주신 부분... 경영학과 출신...ㅋㅋㅋㅋ]

 

Now: $1000 refrigerator

5 years later: $1000 OR refrigerator ($1500)

 

Normal stocks:

  • 1) buy, 2) wait, 3) resell when higher price
  • You HOPE that the price of the stock increases.

shorting a stock:

  • 1) borrow 500 stocks from you
  • 2). immediately sell them for $1.00 a piece (revenue $500)
  • 3) I HOPE that the price of the stock decreases - decrease to $0.50 per stock
