시계를 팔아서 자신의 빚을 갚았다는 걸 알게된 요셉은 선자와 경희에게 불같이 화를 낸다. 선자는 그 시계를 어디서 구했는지, 어머니가 준건 형편 상 말이 안되는 것 같은데 훔친 것은 아닌지, 왜 남편인 이삭에게 먼저 말하지 않았는지. 

이삭은 자신과 가족을 위해서 일을 감행한 선자가 기특하기도 하고, 거기까지 생각 못해본 스스로가 철이 없다고 생각하는 것 같음. 

그래도 미안하고 고마운 마음. 이삭은 요셉을 달래면서 선자의 입장을 대변해줌.
